About Me
Playing the piano has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I have started early around the age of 5 years. It wasn't until late in high school when I decided to go to music school and major in piano performance. I am classically trained and I received my Bachelor of Music where I majored in Piano Performance.
I have spent my childhood years in South Korea and moved to the U.S. where I currently reside in the Ashburn, VA area with my husband and two beautiful sons Justin and Jonathan.
I am a member of Open Door Presbyterian Church located in Herndon, VA serving as a church accompanist. I also participate in the praise band as the main keyboard and enjoy Christian contemporary music.
I have been teaching the piano for over 18 years now. I enjoy teaching children, equipping them with a good foundation and techniques so that they can express their soul through music. Music opens a new level of understanding and language expressing things that words cannot.
Learning the piano is also very important in creating bridges to other instruments - especially string instruments where ear training for intonation is critical.
My teaching style varies between each student, and I take into consideration all aspects such as personality, learning styles and goals.
Some students need just a little nudge and structure while other students need a more strict approach.
My philosophy is to make piano fun yet encourage them to achieve a sense of confidence in overcoming the difficulties.
"Bringing passion to the piano" is my mission to all of my students.
